So...as the comic states, Welcome to "POW! Right in the Nostalgia". A webcomic idea I had been working on for a while simply out of boredom as I drew characters and ideas in sketchbooks for a few years.
I know it's not the greatest in terms of art or anything given it's just scanned line art due to my lack of proper art programs on my computer, nor an original idea for a comic if you look around, but I just really wanted to do something really for my myself.
To convey what I'm interested in in some way whether it be thru writing or drawing, and this comic does that. I talk about stuff I, and maybe others I'd guess out there, like in terms of toys, video games, movies, comics, etc...both old and new. Whatever just happens to jump out at the time that strikes my fancy.
So if this comic gets people interested, that's great. After all, we all have to feel a bit nostalgic about things sometimes, don't we?
(And yes, I screwed up on Charlotte's southern accent a bit with the "ya'll" versus "y'all". I will try to fix this in future comics)
"Transform and MURDER ALL"
That line is fucking perfect
Pretty much sums up how Optimus Prime was in the movies as they went on. Heck, he's ready to kill everyone no matter what they are...human or robot in Age of Extinction.
My thoughts exactly. It always rubbed me the wrong way how he was kind of a psychopath in the Bay movies
I brought up this point actually in one of my comics recently.
Okay. I'm pretty glad I picked this comic to read. Good start.
Glad to see you picked it as well. Hopefully it's entertaining for you all the way through.
Looking back on it, is that Shana in the left corner of the first panel?
Nope. That's actually another character that has yet to be introduced (coming up in the next few months or so), but if you notice, she has freckles like a certain other character.
I remember that show. I tried my best to record every episode I could, (I did that using this thing called a "V.C.R." you kids have no idea what I'm talking about.)
Thank God they put it out on DVD. I cried when it got cancelled, the music that played at the end of each episode was sad sounding but never sadder than at the end of the last episode. Did you know Mike Nelson is friends with the creator of Earthworm Jim?!? Doesn't that blow yer mind?!! Has anyone ever been to "Timmy Big Hands" .com? Mike writes funny articles n stuff. "Ode to a steak" is really funny.
That website might not even be around anymore. Everything is so freaking sad...
MST3K is still one of the most original shows that ever was. It's surprising that no one has ever tried to market it for modern audiences with how many bad movies are still out there that deserve to be ripped on.
So many people have been influenced by the show on YouTube (ex: The Spoony Experiment) and other places.
I know that Mike, Kevin (Tom Servo #2), and Bill (Crow #2) tried to start a new MST3K-like show called "The Film Crew" that got four DVD episodes, but due to certain issues it got delayed and delayed and then they went on to make "RiffTrax", but there they were making fun of GOOD movies for the most part, and it kind of wasn't as good in my opinion.
Joel, Frank, Mary Jo, Trace (Crow #1), and Josh (Tom Servo #1) also created "Cinematic Titanic", which had them doing the silhouettes and stuff like MST3K, doing the same thing, but they retired that recently, and it was mostly live shows.
MST3K was one of those once-in-a-lifetime amalgams that somehow wound up being more than the sum of its individual parts. All the attempts by MST3K alumni to recreate that magic have all been missing something
Well, I'll be curious to see how the upcoming reboot of the show turns out. It has most of the original people involved somehow.
Haha "Transform and murder all"
That is such a BRILLIANT line!
Pretty much sums up the Michael Bay movie Optimus Prime in a nutshell.
Welcome to POW!
Love your style and I watch MST3K just about daily. My favorite episodes for that magnificent series involve Sandy Frank movies. Keep up the good work!
Thanks you for the kind compliments.
The Sandy Frank movies are definitely some of the best...worst films they've made fun of.
Are you aware of the return of MST3K that is happening now?
Omgosh good job summing up the old characters vs current ones
